The Solution

Build a better Barnes.

Restore Barnes is developing a credible tennis-first operating model for the next term.

The objective

Preserve what works. Change the model.

Pickleball, padel, events and commercial partnerships can support Barnes. They should not quietly redefine the public mission. A future agreement should establish which activities lead, which support and how every outside relationship benefits public tennis.

01

Tennis first

Make tennis the controlling identity, scheduling priority and public purpose.

02

Youth first

Protect junior development, scholarships, outreach and measurable player pathways.

03

Public access

Publish reservation windows, pricing, prime-time availability and protected public court-hours.

04

Transparent governance

Require disclosure, independent decisions and documented recusals for connected interests.

05

Commercial discipline

Allow ancillary activity when it is approved, fairly structured and demonstrably supports tennis.

06

Financial accountability

Report public subsidy, revenue, costs, reinvestment and public-benefit performance each year.

Work in progress

Built to compete.

Restore Barnes is organizing tennis, nonprofit governance, operations, finance, public access, youth programming and facility-management expertise. We do not claim that a complete operating coalition or City process already exists.

We intend to participate if the City creates an appropriate and transparent operator-selection process.
